Redetermination of the structure of α-tetraphosphorus trisulfide diiodide at 180 K
- 1. Dept. of Chemistry, Newcastle Univ. (United Kingdom)
Description
Redetermination of the structure of the title compound from data collected at 180 K gives considerably improved precision. The two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit are practically identical and have essentially C2 symmetry unaffected by crystal packing. The greatest difference between the two molecules is in the 'book angles' between the fused five-membered rings; this is in accordance with chemical-shift variations observed in 31P NMR spectra for this and related compounds.
