Bogomolny section for the stadium: I. Quantum theory

Description
The quarter-stadium can be decomposed into a rectangle and a quarter-circle; in each of these the Helmholtz equation is separable. We thus construct Green's functions for both regions and a fully quantum mechanical Bogomolny matrix. This results in a very efficient algorithm for calculating eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. We discuss the relation of the family of periodic 'bouncing ball' orbits to the contribution of the non-oscillating modes. (author)
