On one-loop effective lagrangians and compactified superstrings
Description
The calculation of one-loop radiative corrections in a cutoff field theory derived from the low-energy limit of compactified superstrings is discussed, and previous work is extended to include terms that would vanish in the limit that the cutoff goes to infinity. The effective potential is found to decrease monotonically as a function of the gravitino mass, and no minimum is found for finite msub(3/2). General arguments regarding the effect of noncompact symmetries on scalar masses and the cosmological constant are discussed and compared with the specific results obtained in this model. (orig.)
