Description

The National Metrology Institute of Ethiopia (NMIE) was established by the council of ministers' regulation number 194/2011 to give metrology related services which were previously given by quality and standards authority of Ethiopia, Ethiopian scientific equipment center and Ethiopian radiation protection authority. The institute was previously accountable to the ministry of science and technology but now it is under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The Ionizing Radiation Calibration Laboratory of NMIE (SSDL) is dedicated to work in the field of calibration of Ionizing Radiation. It is a Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL), which was established in 2008 by Ethiopian Radiation protection Authority (ERPA). and a member of the IAEA/WHO SSDL network.
