Description
The Pohang Light Source (PLS) is a GeV advanced synchrotron radiation facility to be constructed in Pohang, Korea. It consists of two main systems, 2 GeV linear accelerator and storage ring. For successful operation of such a complicated and gigantic facility, fast monitoring of various kinds of diagnostic instruments and precision control of all machine components are essential. Distributed and hierarchical architecture has been designed into the PLS computer control system with an emphasis on reliability and flexibility. This paper will describes the conceptual design of the PLS control system
