Development of the real surface stresses in an austenitic stainless steel type Z2CND17-12 (316L) during stress corrosion tests

Description
After a brief review on the influence of superficial residual stress on stress corrosion of austenitic steels, results obtained by flexion of rolled steel 316L on crack propagation in a boiling solution of MgCl2 at 42% are given. X-ray diffraction is well adapted for nondestructive measurement of stress. The role of strain hardening on stress corrosion is evidenced
Abstract (French)
Apres une breve revue de l'influence des contraintes residuelles superficielles sur la corrosion sous contrainte des aciers austenitiques, on donne les resultats obtenus par flexion d'acier 316L lamine sur la propagation des fissures dans une solution bouillante de MgCl2. La diffraction des rayons X est bien adaptee a la mesure nondestructive des contraintes. On met en evidence le role de l'ecrouissage prealable sur la corrosion sous contrainteAdditional details
