Use of pressed scintillation detectors in Moessbauer spectroscopy and in nuclear technology instrumentation
Description
The method of isostatic pressing allows thin (≥0.1 mm) scintillation detectors on the base of NaI(Tl) with assigned thickness and high spectrometric parameters to be prepared. Considering an example of detection of 57Fe and 125Te Moessbauer radiation it has been shown that there is a detector optimal thickness providing maximum precision of measurement as a function of background radiation. The proposed estimation of detector optimal thickness is suitable for all cases of soft γ- or X radiation detection on the background of high-level photon radiation which occurs, for example, in γ-densitometry of radioactive solutions, X-ray spectrometry of radioactive samples etc
