Methods of post-irradiation study of nuclear reactor materials

Creators

Description

8 hot cells (for handling activities of 1014 to 1015 Bq) and 8 semi-hot cells (for handling activities of about 1011 Bq) are available at UJV for research of irradiated materials. The equipment of the cells allows conducting tests of mechanical properties, metallography, and analyses of irradiated fuel and structural materials. By 1983, the so-called mechanical part is to be built of a semi-hot metallurgical line. This will primarily be used for certification tests of pressure vessel steels for WWER type reactors. In the following stage, structural analysis will be possible of irradiated materials. The other part of the hot cells will be used for the research of the service life and reliability of WWER fuel.
