The distribution of radiation exposures amongst monitored workers at the Atomic Weapons Establishment

Data on personal radiation exposures at the Atomic Weapons Establishment between 1986 and 1988 have been subjected to statistical analyses and the dose distribution in each year determined. The annual recorded effective whole-body dose has been taken as a measure of occupational internal and external exposure. From 1986 monitoring and recording practices were changed following the introduction of the Ionizing Radiations Regulations 1985. The effects of these changes on the values recorded as annual doses are discussed. Results are subdivided to show average exposures received by industrial and non-industrial workers and also male female workers of staff. In addition, data are presented showing the distribution of exposures received by workers as a function of age. (Author)
