Design of low emittance storage rings

Creators

  • 1. Stanford Univ., CA (USA). Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lab.

Description

To reach low emittance particle beams for a high brilliance synchrotron light source various types of lattices can be used. Second order aberrations, however, can cause severe limitations for the stable motion of the particles. These limitations and their impact on the operational reliability of a storage ring are discussed for the different lattice types. (orig.)
