Measurements of absolute resonance strengths in (p, γ) reactions on rare or gaseous nuclei

  • 1. Helsinki Univ. (Finland). Dept. of Physics

Description

The use of separated targets in the absolute strength measurements of proton induced capture reactions is developed. The backscattering of 4He-particles is employed in the quantitative determination of target nuclei, and the absolute resonance strength measurements of 202122Ne(p, γ)212223Na and 54565758Fe(p, γ)55575859Co reactions are used to illustrate the method. Absolute strength measurements on iron isotopes 57 and 58 are performed for the first time. (Auth.)
