Description

Radiotracer techniques are widely used in healthcare, industry, agriculture and environment all over the world leading to significant societal benefits. The idea of using radiotracers for troubleshooting, process visualization and to investigate flow dynamics in industrial process systems has always attracted attention of engineers and scientists because of their specific advantages over conventional tracers. The main advantages of radiotracers are physicochemical compatibility, high detection sensitivity, in-situ detection, availability of a wide range of radiotracers for different phases, Suitability for harsh industrial environment and limited memory effects. Present paper briefly describes some of the commonly carried out applications of radiotracer techniques in Indian industry with specific case studies. (author)
