A comparison of the Burlin and Kearsley general cavity theories with LiF TLD measurements for 10 MV x-rays
Description
It is observed with 10 MV X-rays that the level of agreement between the two theories and experimental results follows the same trend with increasing atomic number of the wall material as for 60Co photons (Kearsley 1984). Based on the PDsub(rms) values, the level of agreement is identical for aluminium while it is in slightly better agreement with the Kearsley expression for copper. The PDsub(rms) value for the Burlin expression is considerably less in lead. A close examination of the results shows that the level of discrepancy between Kearsley's theory and experiment increases with cavity size and atomic number of the wall material. (author)
