Description

Since Spitzer has used a quantum formulation of the impact parameter in his Coulomb logarithm, a further consequence will be derived for the 900 collision model of the collision frequency. Above a velocity of plasma particles v = Z2cα with the fine-structure constant α, the quantum scattering is dominant for which formulations of the Ohmic conductivity and the diffusion constant for charges across the magnetic field are given. For tokamaks with hydrogen isotopes, an improvement of the Ohmic heating can be expected for plasma temperatures above 100 eV. (author)
