On the mechanism of phase transition in BN during its reaction with Al under high pressure and temperature conditions

Solid phase AlN is formed under the conditions of high pressures and temperatures in the contact melted Al-BN; this phase acts as a catalytist in the process of α-BN → β-BN phase transformation; AlN and β-BN are texturated in the contact region; they have general axis of texture, which coincides with crystallographic direction (001) AlN and (111) β-BN. Mechanism of β-BN formation in the Al-α-BN contact is suggested
