The UA1 3D graphics analysis system

  • 1. European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva (Switzerland). UA1 Collaboration
  • 2. Grenoble-1 Univ., 74 - Annecy (France). Lab. de Physique des Particules

Description

For the analysis of the UA1 proton-antiproton experiment at CERN has been developed a complex graphics system with 3D dynamics and interactive capabilities, known as MERLIN. It played a key role in many aspects of off-line development and physics analysis. Both hardware and software aspects of the system are presented, its use as a tool for program development, apparatus monitoring and physics analysis is described. Ideas for improvements are also discussed. (orig.)
