Temporary freedom and asymptotic catastrophe of lepton and quark interactions
- 1. Tokyo Univ., Tanashi (Japan). Inst. for Nuclear Study
Description
The coupled renormalization-group equations for strong, weak and electromagnetic coupling constants are presented to the lowest non-trivial order. Contrary to the naive belief of the asymptotic freedom in quantum chromodynamics, the interference in three interactions leads to a possibility of ''asymptotic catastorophe'', where all the interactions become strong, as energies go beyond the ''temporary freedom'' region and towards the Planck mass (-- 1019GeV).
