The structure of an H I-H II boundary
Description
In the present study, a radiation-driven shock wave, which is generated in interstellar space by a contracting star, is studied using the BGK model of the Boltzmann equation to obtain insight into the H i-H ii boundary wave structure. An examination of the resultant wave systems involving atoms, electrons, protons, and photons provides possible explanations of the unexpectedly thick H I shells observed.
