Description
The paper and presentation Russian Plans for Construction of Repository for High-Level Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel in the Nizhnekansk Massif by T. Gupalo from Russian Research Institute of Industrial Geology. The paper provided an overview of geological research at the site of a planned deep geological repository for high level RW located in the Nizhnekansk massif in Siberia that had been conducted since the 1990s. Investigations based on boreholes discovered a stable granite massif with two prospective sites suitable for a deep geological repository. Plans for future efforts were described, including the creation of a deep geological laboratory for further investigations.
