  • 1. Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Labs., Karachi (Pakistan). Fuel Research Center

Description

Pakistan is rich in coal but its quality is not good as it contains high ash, sulphur, moisture and volatile matter. In view of this its use as a fuel is limited and governed by many limiting factors needed to reduce emissions of poisonous gases. It can, however, serve as a good source of humic acid which acts as plant growth promoter or soil conditions. A review is presented to indicate versatility and wide variety of uses. This wonderful product can be put to. Experiments carried out in FRC, and in collaboration with other institutions of the country, have shown positive results of humic acid on the crop yields of various crops. (author)
