Description
In the framework of the quantum hydrodynamics, a periodic ω field is assumed, and a set of self-consistent equations are derived in the relativistic mean field approximation, for the description of nucleons interacting via σ-meason and ω-meson fields. In the presence of such an ω-field, the energy spectra of the relativistic nuclei exhibit allowed and forbidden bands similar to the energy spectra of electrons in solids. In this way the periodic structure can be studied also beyond the instability point of the homogeneous system. (R.P.) 8 refs.; 3 figs
