Description
A general formulation of the equations for one-dimensional flow of a two-phase compressible fluid has been given and the conditions for choke flow derived. A method of solving these equations in a flow network has been presented in which: (a) time steps can be chosen on accuracy considerations alone; (b) any slip equation of state model which meets the requirements of Section 2 can be used. This includes all the usual slip models and also some for which the assumptions of separated flow and thermodynamic equilibrium do not apply; and (c) intrinsic choking using any of these slip equation of state models is possible. Any hydraulic component can be included provided it can be described in terms of the pressure, flow and energy flux at the points at which it joins the network. (author)
