Establishment of efficient periodical inspection of the nuclear power plant

Description

As the standard days required for periodical inspection of the 1000 MW class BWR power plants was determined to be about 76 days, the days of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant since 1994 was 81 dyas at best. In the nuclear power plant in USA, saving of inspection period is promoted for reduction of power generation cost, and a 20s days inspection period is reported though difference of their regulations. In Japan, the Electrical Business Law was amended in 1995 after continuation of 31 years, management efficiency due to introduction of competition principle and reinvestigation of the electricity rates system was required, and saving of the inspection period became required as a measure of promotion of application efficiency for reduction of power generation cost on base of its safety. Here is described on efforts on saving of the periodical inspection days at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant for its establishment of efficiency promotion since 1993. (G.K.)
