  • 1. Staatliches Amt fuer Atomsicherheit und Strahlenschutz, Berlin (German Democratic Republic)
  • 2. Karl-Marx-Universitaet, Leipzig (German Democratic Republic)

Description

After exposure to 180.6 mC/kg (700 R) x-irradiation C57Bl mice developed the bone marrow syndrome and died between 10 and 20 days. Transplantation of 2x107 and 0.5x107 syngeneic bone marrow cells 20 to 24 hours post-irradiation caused survival of 90 and 65%, respectively, of the lethally irradiated animals until the 24th day. Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation was less effective. (author)
