Operational test and final technical concept of the ASDEX multipole magnetic field coils

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Plasmaphysik, Garching (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The multipole magnetic field coils (MP) form the magnetic divertor field of the ASDEX at Garching. The six coils are combined to two triplets, attached to the vacuum vessel below and above the plasma and divided into two halves. Each coil is surrounded by bellows. The final technical concept and the operating conditions of the MP coils are reported. Preliminary investigations carried out with special components showed that the technical concept finally chosen was practicable. Final tests with the manufactured coils showed perfect operation of the coils. (author)
