Study on pion multiple production in nondiffractive exclusive reactions in K-p interactions at 32,1 GeV/c

Description
The multiple production of pions in the exclusive nondiffractive K-p → K-pl(π+π-), 1<l=l<=4 reactions at 321 GeV/c is studied. The diffractive component in K-p → K-pπ+π- and K-p → K-p2 (π+π-) reactions was selected by the maximum rapidity gap method. It is shown that the independent emission model (IEM) with the leading particle effect taken into account can reproduce the main features of the longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of pions. However, the π- mesons emitted in the forward hemisphere have on an average a somewhat larger longitudinal momentum than it is predicted by IEM. Correlations between the transverse momenta of pions and leading hadrons are also studied
