This English and French translation of Act No 1860 on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy incorporates and indicates the successive amendments made since the Act was published in 1962. Act No 1860 is a Basic Act covering all nuclear activities in Italy (regime for ores and nuclear materials, construction and operation of nuclear installations, third party liability, patents, penal provisions...). Given its general character it has been the subject of numerous implementing regulations. The most important, and most recent amendment, is emboided in a Decree of the President of the Republic dated 10th May 1975 which covers the provisions of the third party liability of operators of nuclear installations; its purpose is to embody in Italian domestic law the principles of the Paris Convention and Brussels Supplementary Convention on nuclear third party liability whose ratification was approved by Parliament in 1974

Ce texte traduit en anglais et en francais de la Loi italienne no 1860 sur les utilisations pacifiques de l'energie nucleaire incorpore et signale les amendements successifs que la Loi a subis depuis sa publication en 1962. La loi no. 1860 est une loi-cadre qui couvre l'ensemble des activites nucleaires en Italie (regime des minerais et des matieres radioactives, construction et exploitation des installations nucleaires, responsabilite civile, brevets, dispositions penales ...). En raison de son caractere general, elle a fait l'objet de nombreux reglements d'application. La modification, la plus recente et la plus importante a la fois, a ete apportee par le Decret du President de la Republique du 10 mai 1975; elle vise les dispositions relatives a la responsabilite civile des exploitants nucleaires et a pour but d'integrer dans la legislation interne italienne les principes decoulant de la Convention de Paris et de la Convention Complementaire de Bruxelles, sur la responsabilite civile nucleaire, dont la ratification a ete approuvee par le Parlement en 1974Additional details
