Description
The stability against volume space charge perturbations of warm, rippled, magnetically focused, neutralized electron beams is investigated. Simple analytical expressions are derived for the growth rates of the instability for the cases of two-wave coupling and three-wave coupling. This instability is compared with that of surface space charge waves supported by the same type of beams. (author)
