High resolution observations of NGC 7027 at 5 GHZ
Description
The planetary nebula NGC 7027 has been observed at a frequency of 5.0 GHz with 2.0 arcsec resolution. The observed brightness distribution is consistent with emission from a thick cylindrical shell with its axis at 30° to the line-of-sight and having a uniform electron temperature and density of (13 ± 2) × 10 3 K and (5.0 ± 0.5) × 10 4 cm −3 , respectively. The earlier interferometric measurement by Miley can be explained by this model without invoking a non-thermal component.
