Results on 16O- and 32S-nucleus collisions from the HELIOS Collaboration

  • 1. Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Turin (Italy)
  • 2. Turin Univ. (Italy)

Description

Three components of the HELIOS experimental setup at CERN, which are used in heavy ion experiments, are described in detail, viz., the calorimeters, the multiplicity detectors and the external spectrometer. Results of experiments related to the time evolution of the quark-gluon plasma are presented, including data on central collisions of nuclei and preliminary charged multiplicity distribution data.
