Description

Amplification of Upper Hybrid (UH) wave has been studied through non-linear interaction process in an inhomogeneous plasma in presence of Lower Hybrid (LH) drift wave turbulence. In the lowest order mode-mode coupling process in a turbulent plasma, particular a non-linear wave-particle interaction, called a plasma maser effect may plays important role in amplification of non-resonant waves. Through plasma maser effect, wave energy among waves may be exchanged with large frequency difference. For this one of the participating wave must resonant and other non-resonant. Due to modulated electric field, a high frequency non-linear force is produced which accelerates plasma particles. This nonlinear force is responsible for amplification of the non-resonant wave through wave particle interaction process. We have considered high frequency UH wave as non-resonant and low frequency LH wave as resonant in the system. We have derived the non-linear dispersion relation of UH wave by using Vlasov-Poisson system of equations. An uniform force has been applied along opposite to the direction of inhomogeneity of plasma. Under this system we have demonstrated the growth of UH wave in presence of the inhomogeneity of plasma, uniform force due drift and LH drift wave turbulence. Also, we have estimated the growth rate of UH wave using magnetospheric plasma data. (author)
