Summing corrections in 192Ir decay (Paper No. NC-07)

  • 1. Punjabi Univ., Patiala (India). Dept. of Physics

Description

The existence of 624, 784, 904, 920 and 1201 keV transitions in the decay of 192Ir is controversial, as transitions are suspected to be coming from summing of gamma rays. In order to confirm the existence or nonexistence of these gamma rays a long time (40 hrs) accurate and stable singles spectra was recorded using 120 c.c. HPGe detector having energy resolution of 2.6 keV at 1332 keV energy of 60Co. Accidental as well as true sum coincidence summing effects were taken into account. (author). 5 refs., 1 tab
