Uranium exploration methods used by NUCLEBRAS

Description

The main methods used by geologists of NUCLEBRAS in uranium prospecting are presented and described. Severals geologic areas were evaluated based on geologic environments and short local surveys. The efficiency of methods were proved by the results. The steps for uranium prospecting carried out are: geological reconnaissances, aereal surveys, photogeological mappings, geochemical surveys, geological profiles, radiometric surveys, geological mappings, drillings and chemical analysis. Abstract (Portuguese)

Apresentam-se e descrevem-se os principais metodos utilizados pelos geologos da NUCLEBRAS na prospeccao de uranio. Avaliaram-se varias areas geologicas baseadas nos ambientes geologicos e em rapidas inspeccoes locais. As eficiencias dos metodos foram provadas atraves dos resultados. Os trabalhos de prospeccao de uranio realizados foram: reconhecimento geologico, inspecoes aereas, mapeamentos fotogeologicos, inspecoes geoquimicas, perfis geologicos, inspecoes radiometricas, mapeamentos geologicos, perfuracoes e analises quimicas.
