Some peculiarities of behaviour of structural materials for thermonuclear devices

Description

Specimens of the Kh18N10T steel coated on both sides with molybdenum, EhP-753 steel, EhI-435 alloy and carbon sitall were subjected to gas evolution tests. The effect of various preliminary treatments of these materials upon their gas evolution in vacuum at 2x10-9 torr was evaluated. Presented are the intersity of gas evolution of test specimens at given temperature and the spectral composition of the released gases. A conclusion is drawn that the Kh18N10T steel and the heat resistant EhP-753 steel can be employed as structural materials for discharge chambers of thermonuclear devices. Stainless steel coating with heat resisting metals provides no advantages in surface finish as compared to the stainless steel proper
