Effect of spatially varying opacity in radiation diffusion problems

Description
Non-equilibrium radiation diffusion phenomena coupled with material energy balance have been studied numerically by developing a fully implicit finite difference code, considering spatially varying opacity of the medium. Our study reveals that for same incident drive, higher radiation and material energy densities can be realized for space dependent opacity of the medium as compared to those with constant opacity.
