Nature of low-lying quadrupole vibrations of superfluid nuclei

  • 1. I. V. Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy

Description

Transition densities rho/sup tr/ (r) have been calculated for excitation of 2+1 states in nonmagic spherical nuclei with developed pairing. For such systems the method of (r,λ) representation has been developed;this is a generalization of the method of coordinate (r) representation for magic nuclei, which permits one to avoid the use of a cut-off basis of particle-hole states. It is shown that the investigated 2+ states have all the features of capons: quantum capillary waves: Their transition densities have large surface maxima of a hydrodynamical nature and expressed volume components of quantum origin
