Spin asymmetry of kaon productions in polarized deep-inelastic scattering on deuterium target by HERMES experiment

  • 1. Tokyo Inst. of Tech., Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

The spin asymmetry of kaon productions in polarized deep-inelastic scattering on the deuterium target was measured by the HERMES experiment. The dual-radiator Ring Imaging Cerenkov (RICH) detector allows to identify pions, kaons and protons in the wide range of momentum from 2 GeV/c to 15 GeV/c. The data cover the kinematical range 0.023 < x < 0.6 and 1 GeV2 < Q2 < 10 GeV2. K+ showed positive asymmetry. K- showed small asymmetry and has values around zero in the region of x < 0.24. The spin asymmetry of kaon productions in polarized deep-inelastic scattering was measured for the first time in this experiment. (author)
