Description
The development of a power generating system based on inertial confinement fusion requires a laser fusion driver other than the system presently used for laser fusion research. With this goal in mind, various new laser candidtates, including the group VI laser, excimers, solid state lasers, and short wavelength gas lasers, are reviewed. None is without shortcomings
