Optimum fuel composition for equilibrium CTR operations
Description
This paper considers the optimization of the fusion power density for a pressure limited fusion plasma (β ≤ β/sub max/) which satisfies an equilibrium power balance between alpha power and irradiation as well as transport losses. Our technique is to establish the locus of equilibrium temperatures which is generated by a parametric variation of the ratio of electron to fuel ion (deuterium and tritium) density, z-bar. Characteristic solutions exist at high equilibrium temperatures which are thermally stable and at lower temperatures which are thermally unstable. 5 refs., 7 figs
