Description

Using a pulse-phase method the temperature and concentration dependences of the ultrasound propagation velocity in melts of the Sb-Te and Bi-Te systems have been investigated. On the basis of the results obtained and available data on density, the adiabatic compressibility of the alloys studied has been calculated. Isotherms of the ultrasound velocity, the velocity temperature coefficient, density, coefficient of thermal expansion, adiabatic compressibility and its relative deviation from the perfect value are plotted and analyzed. The behaviour of the Sb-Te and Bi-Te alloy properties is related to the electronic structure of antimony and bismuth. A correlation of the composition-property diagrams with the calculation results of dissociation degree of the compounds A25Te3 in the liquid phase at melting point is pointed out
