On structural sensitivity of the Baushinger effect

Description

The effect of the prior structure and features of strain hardening of austenitic and martensitic classes of steels (KH18N10T and 30KH3NSMV) on their resistance to negative slip is studied. The character of this effect is determined by the prior structure of steel and mechanism of its strain hardening. At low values of preliminary strain for austenitic steel as well as for high-tempered and annealed steels of the martensitic class one can observe a drop in the yield limit on the change of the strain sign, and the growth of the yield limit for tempered and low-annealed steels of the martensitic class. For rolled tubes of austenitic steel the yield limit on the change of the strain sign decreases much faster than for the thermally treated tubes. This can be associated with higher relaxation of internal stresses not only on heating but on the negative slip as well
