Clinical significance of measurement of changes of serum TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels after treatment in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia
Description
Objective: To investigate the significance of changes of serum TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels after treatment in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia. Methods: Serum TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels (with RIA) were determined in 36 pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia both before and after treatment and 30 controls. Results: Before treatment, the serum TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels in the patients were significantly higher than those in controls (P<0.01), after treatment for two weeks, the TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels were about the same (P>0.05 ) as those in controls. Conclusion: Detection of serum TNF-α, IGF-II and IL-6 levels is clinically useful in the management of pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia. (authors)
