Ultrafast gating of microchannel plate x-ray spectrometers

Description
A laser-triggered microchannel-plate (MCP) gating system using a photoconductive switch was developed. This system has obtained a dramatic improvement in performance for three MCP-intensified x-ray spectrometers during recent x-ray laser experiments at the LLNL Novette laser facility
