Description
Many properties of single crystals of the gadolinium gallium garnets (GGG) are sensitive to the presence of the point defects and the ones induced by different kinds of irradiation. In this article an attempt was made to generalize the results of the radiation defects investigations in GGG crystals obtained by the authors within the last ten years. They include the experimental investigations of the influence of different kinds of the ionizing radiation on the spectral-luminescent and photo electrical properties of the GGG crystals, the theoretical studies using quantum-chemical calculation of some characteristics of defects and phenomenological modelling of their formation processes. 39 refs, 4 tabs, 20 figs
