Proceedings of the international workshop on JHF science (JHF98). Vol. 2. Parallel sessions of K- and E-arena

Description

The International Workshop on JHF Science (JHF98) was held at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) at Tsukuba, Japan, 3-7 Mar 1998. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the scientific possibilities of JHF (Japan Hadron Facility), and to make improvements in the present plan for the facilities. About 440 scientists participated in the workshop. It is the intention of JHF to advance various fields of science through the use of high intensity beams supplied by a proton accelerator complex. The accelerator complex will consist of 200-Mev linac, 3-Gev proton synchrotron with 200-microA proton beams, and 50-Gev proton synchrotron with 10-microA protons. With various kinds of primary and secondary particle beams, different scientific activities, from particle and nuclear physics, materials science and to the life science, will be pursued. This volume contains the presented papers in Parallel sessions of K-arena (kaon and muon rare decays, neutrino physics, strangeness nuclear physics, physics with primary beams, hadron spectroscopy and physics with anti-proton and anti-nuclei), and E-arena (RI beam facilities, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental and nuclear physics with ISOL-based RNB, materials science, post accelerators, production targets and ion sources). The 84 papers are indexed individually. (J.P.N.)
