Deuteron induced damage in alkali halides

Description
S>Initial deuteron-damage measurements were made in NaCl and KCl, and results are compared with previously reported measurements of proton and helium irradiation damage in aikali halides. A 1-MeV deuteron beam was incident on the target crystals in the <100) direction. A solid-state detector, placed at 160 deg to the incident beam direction, detected the backscattered deuterons. Results are presented and discussed. (UK)
