Within this investigation, 141 patients with carcinoma of the bladder in stage T3 were treated as follows: 24 with exclusive, 87 with postoperative, and 30 with preoperative irradiation and following total cystectomy. The comparison reveals that the combined therapy can bring a better 5-years-prognose than the operation alone. The same result is also valid for radiation therapy compared to the monovalent surgical treatment. (APR)
Abstract (German)
In dieser Studie wurden insgesamt 141 Patienten mit dem Blasenkarzinom im Stadium T3 wie folgt therapiert: 24 mit alleiniger, 87 mit postoperativer und 30 mit praeoperativer Bestrahlung und anschliessender totaler Zystektomie. Der Vergleich zeigt, dass die kombinierte Therapie eine bessere 5-Jahres-Prognose erreichen kann als die Operation allein. Das gleiche Ergebnis gilt fuer die Strahlentherapie gegenueber der einseitigen chirurgischen Behandlung. (APR)Additional details
