Channel coupling non-locality and the optical model

  • 1. Univ. of Connecticut, Storrs, CT (United States)

Description

This paper reports on the theoretical (Feshbach) elastic optical model potential U(r,r') which represents the effect of coupling to the inelastic channels that is calculated for a schematic coupled channel example, by using a Sturmian basis expansion method. The nonlocality is found to extend throughout the region where the coupling potentials are large, and the nature and range of the nonlocality is quite different from that of the exchange nonlocality
