Neutron-scattering studies of the pressure effect on the magnetic transition in Ho(Co0.9Ga0.1)2
Description
Neutron powder diffraction was employed to study for the first time the pressure effect on the magnetic transition in the pseudo-binary Laves-phase compound Ho(Co0.9Ga0.1)2 and to determine the magnetic moments of the Ho- and Co-subsystems. The pressure effect on TC is found to be negative and extremely large, namely ∂TC/∂p∼-3.4 K/kbar. The values of the magnetic moments of the Ho and Co ions are found to be μHo∼9.7μB/atom, μCo∼1.2μB/atom at p=0 and μHo∼9.3μB/atom, μCo∼0.7μB/atom at 5 kbar
