The Japanese tritium programme

  • 1. National Inst. of Radiological Sciences, Chiba (Japan)

Description

The tritium research carried out at NIRS since 1980 is briefly reviewed. Considerable knowledge has accumulated concerning the importance of organically bound tritium in the evaluation of absorbed dose for workers and members of the public, and of RBE values for tritium in model experimental systems. The results are essentially in agreement with those from laboratories in European countries and North America where biological research on tritium is conducted. Future collaboration with these laboratories is strongly recommended. (author)
